Diane Medved Harper and Adeline Garino win the 2013 Monte-Carlo Woman of the Year Award
Under the High Patronage of HSH Prince Albert II, the award ceremony took place in the presence of LL.AA.SS. the Prince and Princess of Monaco in the Salle François Blanc at the Sporting d'Hiver on Tuesday, May 7th. During this demonstration created by the journalist Cinzia Sgambati-Colman in 2012, sponsored by Alliance Boots and organized by the company Welcome Service Monte-Carlo, Mr. Stéphane Valeri, Government Counselor for Social Affairs and Health, presented the Monte-Carlo Award to Mrs. Diane Medved Harper, professor of medicine specializing in research on the role of the human papilloma virus in cervical cancer. Mrs Adeline Garino received the Prize for the Principality of Monaco for her involvement and the development of the association Ecoute Cancer Réconfort with the creation of the space "Mieux Vivre".

The Sovereign and Princess Charlene were received at the entrance to the Sporting d'Hiver by Cinzia Colman and Alberto Colman, followed by Ornella Barra and Stefano Pessina, sponsor of the evening.
Diane M. Harper, the winner who comes from the United States, Kansas
She is a professor of medicine, renowned worldwide for her research on the papilloma virus. The nomination said:
The 2013 Monte-Carlo Woman of the Year Award is awarded to a female medical professor, mother, wife and researcher. Personal events led her to a medical specialty, the pathology of cancer in young girls, in which she was able to define in detail the role of the human papillomavirus. The discoveries made by this exceptional woman are recognized worldwide.

The Committee has chosen a woman president of an association which acts in the most total discretion, sharing the tragedy of the disease of the century with the patients and their families, by providing the moral help, the personal support and the love that these moments require.
The limitless involvement for so many years on the part of this extraordinary woman is recognized throughout the Principality and beyond.

Live performance by the Italian artist Fabrizio Vendramin, who made an upside down portrait of the Princess Charlene of Monaco. He also previously painted a portrait of the Sovereign, unveiled during the event.
